Vic: Yallourn talks come as work bans bite =2

Today's 90-minute meeting was a good opportunity for both sides to communicate, a spokesman
for Ms Gould told AAP after the talks broke up late this afternoon.

"Most of these negotiations are carried out by phone and it was useful to get all the
representatives in the one room to canvass issues," the spokesman said.

However, today's meeting did not affect tomorrow's application by the company to terminate
the union's bargaining period, he said.

"There was strong disagreement over the issue of forced retrenchments," the spokesman said.

"I suppose you'd say they've agreed to disagree."
