PROJECT STUDIES CONFLICT ENGINEER MAY SEEK 3RD OPINION.(Local)

Faced with two studies of the site of the proposed New Scotland Woods housing development that are diametrically opposed, City Engineer James Waugaman said he may recommend a third study to break the tie.

Waugaman asked the city Planning Department for copies of the two studies of soil conditions at the site this week after the city Planning Board heard conflicting testimony over whether some houses built on the site would be in danger of sliding down a hillside.

At issue is a 28 1/2-acre parcel of land adjacent to the Academy of the Holy Names near the Bethlehem town line.
