Key overseas finance markers
In New York overnight, the Dow Jones industrial average GAINED 96.41 points to 9,053.64and the tech-laced Nasdaq Composite Index INCREASED 13.70 points to 1,422.95.
The Australian dollar is WEAKER at 54.12 US cents.
It's worth 64.92 Japanese yen.
Against the euro, the Aussie is buying 55.86 euro cents.
Against the kiwi the local dollar is buying 1.1615 NZ dollars.
The Aussie is buying 35.58 British pence.
In Sydney yesterday, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index closed 31.4 points HIGHER at 3195.7,while the all ordinaries GAINED 29.2 points to 3143.0.
Gold in New York DROPPED $US1.00 US cents to $US308.30 per fine ounce.
