PROGRAM OFFERS 2ND CHANCE FOR CREDIT.(Main)

Those who default on a student loan, but later make good on it, may get a second chance at a college education under a new state program.

The Renewed Eligibility for Financial Assistance program is for students who leave school, default on a student loan and lose their eligibility for additional loans and grants.

The program is not for just any defaulter - it's for those who prove good faith by making payments on their loans for one year.

Of the 930 applicants trying to enter the new program this fall, just 119 were accepted.
