Fed: Clark suspended as ATSIC Commissioner

Aboriginal leader GEOFF CLARK has been suspended from his post as chairman of Australia'speak indigenous body ATSIC on the grounds of misbehaviour.

Indigenous Affairs Minister PHILIP RUDDOCK says Mr CLARK's suspension follows his convictionearlier this year for obstructing police and behaving in a riotous manner in public.

Mr RUDDOCK says in a statement he has suspended Mr CLARK as a Commissioner and Chairmanof the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission on the grounds of misbehaviouras provided for under Section 40 of the ATSIC Act 1989.
